Before our in-home shoot, I had met Amanda and Edward three times before. They had been guests at three different weddings I had photographed during the past year. They were always the couple I remember taking over the dance floor first. By the time I saw them third time, it felt like I already knew them. Therefore, it felt natural to ask them if they would be willing to be our models for my mentoring session. And they were thrilled!
It was a sunny Saturday morning in March as me and my mentee arrived at their home in Helsinki. We were immediately greeted with hugs, laughs and coffee, and their dog Nala. As we started to photograph them, they were as natural as ever in front of the camera. My role as a mentor was to show my mentee some recommendations on how I would proceed in an in-home shoot. I guided her through the shoot, gave useful tips how to pose the couple and shoot from the right angle, challenged her decisions, encouraged her to ask questions, and evoked more in-depth thinking. It was amazing and rewarding to see how fast she picked up some tips, took risks, and became more brave with her photography. Teacher-Henna is proud of her!
Amanda and Edward truly opened their home and hearts for us during our shoot, and I am more than grateful for their time. I couldn’t have asked for a better couple for this sessions! The cherry on top of a milkshake was their furball Nala. Yet again, I was reassured that dogs truly make the best props in love-shoots!
