Sunset Love-Shoot in Athens, Greece

It was my second time traveling to Athens. My last visit in the city back in 2017 with my boo, and I must say it was love at first sight. This time it was a quick long weekend trip to attend Basketball Coaching Seminar. Luckily I had time to add some photography in this weekend filled with basketball. Gala and John contacted me via Facebook as they hoped for a love shoot during the sunset. Gala is originally from Paraguay and John from Athens. They met each other while studying in the Netherlands and now both living together in Athens. Cherry on top of a milkshake was, that John had very recently popped the question and our love shoot turned out to be an engagement shoot.

Gala & John were the most cutest, trusting and spontaneous couple ever, and I feel so lucky I got to document their love for them. For the shoot, I wanted to choose a location for our shoot that emphasized the city’s great history. Evidently, the Parthenon seemed like a too obvious choice. Therefore, I chose an archaeological site called Ancient City of Agora, an area right in the heart of Athens that used to be a place for gathering, assemblies and residents for about 5000 years. And that’s where the magic happened!

During my previous trip to Athens I fell in love with the city’s old historical sites, cool bars and restaurant, friendly and genuine people and the magical light during sunset. Fortunately, this time was no different. Let’s just say me and Athens got closer as I was able to see the city more deeply. The unfinished touches of it. Ohh how I love Athens and how it’s not too polished, but just enough rough around the edges. This is a city I will definitely visit again!
