Winter Wedding at Shelter, Helsinki

It was a cold and windy February day. I was waiting for Stephanie and Hannes to meet them in front of their old apartment building in Southern Helsinki. In front of this very same apartment building they met for the first time years back on a warm summer night. Well it wasn’t warm on their wedding day! Typical winter weather in Finland with cold breeze and scattered snow everywhere. We had a quick portrait session in front of their old flat to capture that memory in the photos.

Their wedding ceremony took place in Helsinki Cathedral‘s small Chapel as they were surrounded by their closest friends and family. It was a beautiful, intimate and emotional ceremony. And I feel so honored I had the opportunity to document it for them. After the ceremony we continued this winter wedding to one of the best restaurants in Helsinki called Shelter. Stephanie and Hannes had chosen Shelter for their wedding venue because of it’s amazing tartar! This winter wedding was in every way perfect. Great speeches, tears of joy, tasty food, spontaneous hugs and musical performances, not to leave out the cold winter darkness outside and warm candle lights inside.
